Ashwagandha, which some call “Winter Cherry”  or “Indian Ginseng” is a lesser-known adaptogenic herb. It has existed for thousands of years in Indian Ayurvedic Medicine.

It wasn’t until around 50 years ago that this member of the nightshade family of plants (Solanaceae) emerged in Western Countries as a potent healing herb, it’s popularity is growing by the day.

Other than easing fatigue in cancer patients and enhancing Alzheimer’s, Ashwagandha has proven helpful to combat anxiety and other emotional disorders.  It has also been shown to improve fertility.

Let’s discuss some of the other benefits this unusual plant.

1. Ashwagandha Fights Cancer

According to past studies, this incredible plant has many healing properties associated with different diseases and infections. Furthermore, it has shown encouraging signs in treating other, tangential conditions. No one can understate its ability to combat inflammation and tumor growth.

Cancer cell apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is one of the many ways ashwagandha is believed to exert cancer-resistant effects.  It can also produce free radicals that kill cancer cells without harming normal cells.

Furthermore, researchers discovered that groups taking ashwagandha gained muscle strength and muscle mass, as well as fast muscle recovery after injury in several bench press exercises after treatment using ashwagandha supplements for eight weeks.
